Yes! Somebody has finally used their head and made one of my dreams come true :)

Sprinkles Magic Cupcake ATM

A cupcake ATM! Say what?!? An ATM that will dispense pretty, yummy cupcakes instead of money?

Yes, yes the rumors are true and Candace Nelson the founder of Sprinkles and the judge of one of Food Networks most yummiest shows "Cupcake Wars" has come up with the sweetest idea ever!

So imagine it's late night, like 2:30am and your walking around zombie like craving some cupcakes, yet all of the bakeries are closed and your (me in other words) just too lazy to bake some cupcakes all you have to do is walk up to the Cupcake ATM and put your credit card and out pops a perfectly, yummy cupcake! Gah, I'm jumping for joy just thinking about it!

And what's making it even more surreal and exciting is that one of these magic ATM's will be installed in my hood!

I can just imagine all these coming Summer nights when Miguelito and me allow our night owls to come out and our cupcake hunger starts to take over us! We shall just walk over to "our" magic ATM and enjoy one of life's many pleasures!

Just A Minute in ..... March

My very first embroidery!

For a girl who doesn't know how to sew or has never held a needle of some sort, I am very happy with my first embroidering :)

My Miguelito got sick on Friday, he got food poisoning and it's been a horrible weekend for my baby :( and for me of course! It's never nice watching your son sick and suffering. To cheer him up I decided to start embroidering and boy was he excited. Let me tell you this is addicting and I can't wait to show you the one I do tomorrow :)

Re-Reading... The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games :) Oh how I love the boy with the bread! Sigh...

Watching... The Walking Dead. Gah! I am in tears after watching tonight's episode. I can't believe it. Do you watch The Walking Dead? What do you think about tonight's episode?

Writing... Letters to some very special friends and organizing some special packages.

Thinking... About life in general and how we have to learn to roll with everyday challenges.

Jumping... For joy at the thought of watching The Hunger Games in IMAX! I have my tickets already, is it March 23rd already?

Planning... A special surprise for my Miguelito :) Miguelito has always loved Star Wars, but after watching it in 3D he has gone crazy with everything Star Wars and me being the crazy, spoiling mama that I am! I've already bought a few goodies for him from Ebay :) Perhaps a Chewbacca and a mini Lego Luke Skywalker. Do you know where else I can find something Star Wars related for Miguelito?

It's the simple things in life...

It's the first time I'm not happy that it's Friday :(

I've been spoiled with Miguelito time this entire week and I will definitely miss him next week!

We made sure to have lots of fun, eat everything and anything full of carbs & sugar, and we made sure to walk around Central Park every single day. Plus, we had perfect weather the entire week except for today which was full of lots of rain, but that didn't stop us. We started the morning off by watching "The Secret World Of Arrietty", afterwards some delicious Brunch, and to top it off a thrifting shopping spree :)

It was a most wonderful week!

(｡◕‿◕｡) Watching Miguelito rooting for his favorite basketball team, the cutest thing is watching him get mad when the Knicks miss a shot.

(｡◕‿◕｡) Munching on a humungous slice of NYC pizza, and yes! I did finish the entire slice all by myself.

(｡◕‿◕｡) Spending time with my boys. It always makes my day when I get to spend an entire day with my boys, they are my life and I love them both so much.

(｡◕‿◕｡) Spying on the Raccoons that live in Central Park. It was so much fun to find them looking for food under a bridge. Thanks to Miguelito and his fascination with them we got to stay there about 40 mins, watching them dig for food and take dips in the little pond.

(｡◕‿◕｡) Miguelito loves his custard! Especially if it's from the Shake Shack, and this is what he ate almost every night this week.

(｡◕‿◕｡) One of Miguelitos thrifting treasures. He is addicted to Star Wars and for him to find this (Star Wars Clone Wars vehicle V- Wing Fighter Pilot Tru) today was just the best thing that could have happened to him. Even though it's missing the pilot and a wing it is believed to be his best toy ever!

(｡◕‿◕｡) One of the many breathtaking views that you can find in Central Park. I never get tired of saying "I Love You Central Park".

Now I'm off to finish watching Grease 2 - I want a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.....

I can't believe that it's been a year that you went away mi querido abuelito. My heart still hurts so much, I hate the fact that I can't see you, hear your voice, or touch your hand. I miss you everyday and there are times that I lay awake crying, porque te extrano mucho! I hope for the day that I see you again even if it's in my dreams. Today while I cleaned the living room your picture fell to the ground. I wonder, was it you? Were you letting me know that your always by my side? And that even though I can't see you, your always by my nearby. I love you mi querido abuelito and I miss you every single day!

Good-bye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end, but in my heart's the memory and there you'll always be.

Say 'YES" To Composting In The Big Apple & A Giveaway

We only have one Mother Earth and if we don't take care of her then who will?

Compost: is organic matter that has been decomposed and recycled as a fertilizer and soil amendment.

Living in a big and sometimes crazy city like NYC makes me sometimes lose track of whats important and how a small commitment of my time can make a difference. Aside from the fact that we live in a small apartment which has very little ventilation, it's easy to find excuses everywhere. One of the hardest ones is not being able to find time to compost and then drop it off at location sites. So when I heard about Glad partnering up with New York Compost and sponsoring them with two freight trikes I knew I had no more excuses to say no to composting!

What does that mean? That during the month of January someone would ride a tri-cycle to where you live and pick up your compost! Can it get any better than that?!? Yes, yes it can! Glad came up with a new line of compostable & recycling bags. Not only are they made of approximately 40% vegetable-based materials but they also have odor-neutralizing technology, so you don't have to worry about the smell of rotting food in your kitchen :D Not only is Glad committed to help us make a difference on our planet but thanks to their Grants Program,

*Glad is committed to supporting youth sports programs by providing 10, $2,000 grants and counsel from sustainability experts to help youth stadiums or sports leagues’ waste diversion efforts. Entrants will be asked to share a brief description of their need and plan to take their high school stadium, community fields or youth sports league “One Bag.” The grant entry period runs from October 18, 2011 through February 29,2012. Grant submissions will be accepted at GladtoWasteLess.com.

We got the opportunity to compost for a few days, and with the help of our compost bin and a Glad compostable bag there were no weird smells roaming around our little apartment. Not only was our handy dandy compost bin odor free but reinforced with a Glad bag we were Odor free for days! After composting for a few days we got to email Adam from New York Compost and set up our pick up date! Let me tell you not only is Adam a super sweet guy but he is a sort of hero! You have to admire a person who finds a way to help the planet and go door to door to pick up compost and take it to the nearest decentralized community-scale compost site. Saturday night came and Miguelito and I ran downstairs with our caddy full of compost and after chatting with Adam you realize the difference we can make if we all chip in!

I was so happy to be able to compost and show Miguelito something he can do to help our planet and you better believe that we will continue to compost! Thank you Glad and New York compost for making it easier for us New Yorkers to compost in this big city of ours!

My heart, My life!

Everyday I see Miguelito and I thank God for each day, because everyday of life that I get is one more day that I get to spend with my son and one more day that I get to spend with all of my loved ones.

In my 30 years of life I've had the blessing of being blessed with both my parents and that is the greatest blessing that I could have asked for, there is no way for me to explain the love that I feel for my dad & mom they are everything to me and it hurts to imagine a world without them. It's because of them that I have all the blessings that I have and it's because of them that I am the woman that I am today.

Everyday I try to explain and show Miguelito how important family is and the love and respect that you must have for each other. That is why back in October when we saw the Trailer for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" I knew that we had to see that movie once it hit the theaters. It came out on December 25,2011 Christmas Day, and even though I wanted to go and see it we couldn't. Hubby was off and he had already told us that he would not be seeing that movie with us under no circumstances.

You see my Humbe lost his daddy almost two years ago and his heart still hurts, there are nights when he can't go to sleep and all he does is weep. It hurts my heart to see my Humbe like that, to see him hurting because his daddy is not here. It hurts because I can run and hug my daddy and hold his hand and kiss him on the cheek and tell him I love you and hear him say it back to me. It hurts because I was the one to break the news to my Humbe the day his dad passed away, you see Humbe was off on his morning jog and I was getting Miguelito ready for school when Humbes cellphone rang and I picked up to hear Humbes sister whimpering voice and trying to tell me the news. I couldn't believe it and when the realization of who had to tell Humbe came to me I started telling his sister that I couldn't, I wouldn't, I just couldn't tell him! How do you tell your other half that his hero, his daddy has passed away?!? I had to get ready to drop Miguelito off and thank God for Jessy who walked with me, I was shaking and couldn't stop sobbing, as we walked Miguelito to school Humbe walked by, he looked at me and said "Is everything ok?", " Go home Humbe, just wait for me" was all I could say. As Jessy and I walked back home I felt heavy, how would I tell him, how could I look at him and tell him the news?!? I couldn't! I really couldn't break his heart like that, I knew that once I told him things would never be the same for him. His world would come spiraling down. As I walked up the stairs I wanted the day to start over, I wanted to have never answered the phone, I hated myself for answering the phone, as if not answering would have changed the events!

I remember walking into the room and Humbe looking up and smiling at me, I remember seeing his face change as the realization of what I told him sunk in. Such a sad day that always follows me around, the day that I broke Humbe's heart!

So for that reason he can't see movies of that nature, he got teary eyed just watching the trailer, but I knew that once the movie came out Miguelito and I would watch it. Why?!? I mean it's a child's worst nightmare losing your parent especially at such a young age, some reviewers recommended taking children 14 and up, because of the sensitive nature. So why take my child and make him suffer?!? I wanted him to see the special relationship between father and son and how life is short, how everyday is a blessing You never know when something will make your world go upside down, and how even impossible as it may seem life does go on. Never the same of course but it does go on nevertheless.

So on Monday the 26th Miguelito and I headed down to the theater and sat down for two hours and lost ourselves in a most powerful and magical movie, that touched me in so many different ways!

I wept during many sad parts as did many of the other movie theater goers, but in the end I'm happy I had the courage to see the movie. I'm happy it made me see things differently.

This is a must see movie, so if you haven't seen it what are you waiting for?!?

Yikes! I've been gone from blog world for a week now and even though I've missed you all so much. It was pretty nice to just relax and enjoy Winter Vacation with my boys and my family. This week we were busy trying to get back into our normal routine of school, work, homework, after school activities and going to
bed early. Let me tell you it was pretty hard and it made me miss the holidays. I can't believe how fast this holiday season went by and I can't wait till Christmas 2012 :)

Phew.... It was a pretty awesome holiday season full of lots of family, yummy foods and beautiful memories. Aside from the fact that we were all spoiled rotten! Well especially Miguelito and Me - of course!
I must mention very quickly that my sister had me rolling in laughter the other day when we were all just lounging around the living room while watching Fear Factor. Jessy said that her New Years resolution was
to stop spoiling ME! Ahahahaha! Not going to happen because I am a princess! :P
After all it must mean something that I always eat or drink with my pinky up!

Happy New Year

It's been a roller coaster of a year and I can't believe that today is the last day of 2011.

As the clock strikes 12, I will bid farewell to this years sadness, happiness, excitement, busyness,

and frustrations and welcome this new year ones :D (I'm hoping there's not a lot of sadness in this one, at least not the really heartbreaking ones).

I will bring in the New Year in Central Park tonight with a live DJ and fireworks and surrounded by my family. We will laugh, dance, hug and cry and wish each other a most magical year! There's no better way to ring in the new year than surrounded by those closest to my heart!

I wish you all my darling friends a very Happy New Year! May it be a most magical one and may it be full of lots of health, happiness, laughter, love and family! You all deserve nothing but the best and from the bottom of my heart I say I Love You and I thank you for a most magical year!

We played hookie yesterday with Miguelito and braved the crazy crowds to do some crazy last minute Christmas shopping. It was a one of a kind experience and in the process Miguelito lost his favorite pair of gloves, so after much crying and pouting we decided to head back home. And now it's Christmas Eve!

I still can't believe it! We start to celebrate on Chritsmas Eve and get some serious hard core cooking done which begins in about 3 hours. First I have to finish wrapping those last minute Christmas presents that were bought last night.

I love our tradition and Miguleito looking forward to it every year, you can read more about it in last years post here.

Happy first day of Winter!

Where has the time gone! We are just two weeks away from the end of the year.

It has been a crazy past few days, between eating, opening my mailbox and finding tons of happy mail -

Just A Minute in...December

Watching... Hope Floats on Netflix. I'm a sucker for romantic movies and I love this one.

Planning... Our weekend holiday adventures, which includes visiting Santa at the ABC Carpet Store and sipping some hot chocolate at Belvedere Castle in Central Park while caroling the night away :)

Creating... Christmas cards, a Christmas banner, ornaments and using lots of glitter.

Wanting... The days to go by slower, I really don't want this holiday season to be over.

Dreaming... About adding a new member to our little family. Two nights ago Humbe and I were talking and we have decided that it is finally time to start trying to have another baby! I haven't stopped smiling since :)

Girl crushing... Drew Barrymore, she has come so far. Not to mention that I think that she is beautiful. I love her in Riding In Cars With Boys - this movie makes me cry and laugh.

Loving... The fact that 2012 is going to be big in so many beautiful ways, not only am I going to get to meet and hug some beautiful blog friends, but I am also hoping to rejoice in some very happy news.

Adoring... This holiday season, wrapping up Christmas presents, eating and baking yummy treats with Miguelito.

Only 18 days left till Christmas, where does the time go? Between doing Christmas activities with Miguelito, shopping and planning our Christmas celebration time has been going by faster than lightning.

Last week finished off on a very sour note with the news of my Grandmother having Alzheimer's, news that has us very sad. My focus now is being strong for my mom who needs all of the support that she can get right now, one good thing about this weekend was that we got enjoy a family weekend with my 3 aunts, 17 cousins and my Grandmother. It was great to be able to see my abuelita and reassure each other that everything was going to be ok and as a family we would work together to get through this.

Now Sunday night was an entirely different story, I was browsing through some blogs and as I saw pictures of baby bumps I told Humbe."Can you imagine when I'm pregnant again? How big is my belly going to be?" next thing I know Humbe says "Kary, let's have another baby" What? Humbe are you serious? Humbe: "Kary, yes I believe with all my heart that now is the time", we continued to talk until Humbe fell asleep and I stayed up, looking up at the glow in the dark stars in my ceiling and thinking about what Humbe and me were just talking about. It's been 8 yrs since I had a baby, and this is something that I've desired with all of my heart for a while now, but for certain reasons we just couldn't have another baby. I know now that as long as we have each other,my Miguelito, my family, life and faith everything will be ok!
I am both happy and nervous about starting over again, but I haven't stopped smiling ear to ear and even crying here and there. Even on Monday as I picked Miguelito up at school and he told me that he was sent to the Principals office for wadding up toilet paper and throwing it up to the bathroom ceiling. I couldn't stop grinning :)
Now to make a visit to the doctors office to get this IUD out and getting an all clear.
Cheers to this holiday season and 2012 being a most wonderful year :)

We woke up at 5:00am Thanksgiving morning. My boys and I got ready pretty quickly so we could go out and grab a good spot to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. It was all worth it once the parade started and the giant balloons started flying above our heads :) Oh, and the happiest news of the day my Humbe had the day off!

Thanksgiving Day Dinner:

Honey Turkey, stuffing which included glazed apples and raisins,mashed potatoes with gravy!

Traditional Mexican food, Pozole and tostadas topped with black beans, Mexican cheese and lettuce.

Three layer gelatin - flavors top to bottom: grape, peach, and blue raspberry.

Three layer milk based Mexican gelatin! Flavors top to bottom: walnut, strawberry, and eggnog.

For Thanksgiving we always like to cook some traditional Mexican dishes and this year was no different. My pappa always cooks turkey at his job and so he's always in charge of cooking one for our house - hehe! So that's one dish scratched off our list. Aside from helping my momma cook our traditional food and learning the family secrets I am also in charge of desserts. Which always makes me happy :) I baked some cupcakes (a separate post to come soon, I'm a dork like that) and some gelatin! I have been craving jello like crazy! Seriously you would think I was pregnant. This was the perfect time to make some pretty jello.

For the water based jello I made three layers of some of my favorite flavors; grape, peach, and blue raspberry. For the milk based one I used a special mexican recipe and made it into a pretty three layered cake. I must say it was perfect! It wasn't to mushy and soft or to hard :) Yay for yummy jello!

The Day after Thanksgiving:

Friday was spent sleeping in late, playing Nintendo Monopoly, eating Thanksgiving leftovers and catching a late show of Arthur Christmas! Perfect way too kick off the Christmas season, with a cute and funny movie which made me tear up :(..... I've been told to be a baby cry, I wonder why? hehe!

Saturday:

Saturday was spent shopping and eating out with my sister and her boyfriend. I was told I was a bad mom for letting my child drink a pina colada? really? Whatever, I just deleted the comment from facebook and let it be. Yeah that's me letting people hurt my feelings without me saying anything. But I don't believe it to be true, but the comment did hurt my feelings. I swear I almost went bankrupt while shopping and most of my money went to Urban Outfitters :) Another post on the things I bought coming soon. Quick story: When I ordered my drink I told the waiter I wanted it Texas size, Miguelito was palying his nintendo and only overheard a little bit. Once my drink arrived he started whining that he wanted a drink like mines, I told him he couldn't drink from my drink but that I could get him his own, he said it wasn't fair. Conversation went something like this:

Miguelito: No fair mami, I do exercise, why can't I get a drink like yours.

Me: Miguelito what? What are you talking about?

Miguelito: I heard when you told the waiter exercise.

Me: ??? Huh?? Exercise?? What are you talking about papi, I didn't say exercise. But I almost spit my drink out when I realized what he was talking about. Miguelito I said Texas size, Not exercise!

Sunday:

Sunday was perfect, Humbe was off again - yay! So we got to end our four day weekend together :)

We started our morning off by watching Hugo at the theaters. It is such a cute movie that should not be missed. We ate lots of yummy treats like Cream Puffs from "Beard Papa's" I couldn't wait to eat them that I forgot to take pictures. next time I promise. We cleaned and moved things around so that we could put up our Christmas tree :) Yay!!! I'm so happy to have it up already! We have vowed to make it a tradition to put it up on Thanksgiving day starting next year. I made sure to have it up and ready by 9:00pm so that I could catch the season finale of one of my favorite TV shows "The Walking Dead". We munched on pizza as I squirmed and squeled while watching my show. OMG! Sophia! Do I have any Walking Dead fans here?

Now I have to wait a grueling 2 months until I can see Sheriff Rick again - Sunday February 12,2012 to be exact :)

That was our four day weekend, full of lots of yummy foods, happiness and love with my beautiful family!

Now I can't wait to come back with pictures from yesterdays Winter's Eve at Lincoln Center, a good picture of our lil ole Christmas Tree and our DIY Advent Calender.

Happy Thanksgiving

Yay! I am less than 24 hours away from eating some yummy Turkey and other delicious traditional Mexican foods :)

I love the rush that you feel in New York City during this holiday season, as you know this city never sleeps and even though it's always buzzing with things to do, there's nothing like the holiday season events. From being able to see the balloon inflation for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade to the actual parade - tomorrow, or the tree lighting's that happen all over the city, beginning this coming Monday.

It's all SO magical!

One of our yearly traditions is getting to go to the balloon inflation of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I always pick Miguelito up early from school, so we can run and drop his things off at home, grab a quick snack and off we go to see the balloons getting inflated. Rain or shine! We are always there, three years ago I was even interviewed and came out in the news - embarrassing video clip hidden somewhere in my house - :)

Today was no exception and it was just as magical as always. Plus I started my morning just perfect! I got to watch Breaking Dawn again, second time around :) And it's still AMAZING! It made me cry again :)

More to come on that next time. After watching and drooling over sexy,sexy Edward. I did some quick last minute shopping and than I was off to pick my baby up from school. One of his happiest days ever - such an adventure to get picked up early from school.

Just a few things that have me happy today Tuesday and wanting it to be Friday already!!!

Snow White and the very Sexy Huntsman!!! My boyfriend from Thor :)

Eeeekkkk!!! This trailer gave me chills! I am SO excited and can not wait to see this movie!

Do you love when your favorite books become movies?

I do! I love getting to watch them on the big screen and not just playing in my mind. What's even more exciting is getting to fall in love with the people that play my favorite characters from the books.

So imagine my delight when the teaser for Hunger Games finally came out!

So.... Are you excited? Ahhhh!! I am and it looks amazing!

Hooray for long weekends.....

Central Park - Taken on 11-8-11

Yes! I love that it's Thursday night yet it feels like a Friday night. There is no school tomorrow, meaning we have a long weekend :) Tonight I don't get to worry about Miguelito falling asleep early - the little night owls in us get to stay awake later than usual. We are lazying around in bed, munching cheddar popcorn while Miguelito watches Pokemon and I blog away on the laptop :)

Today I am more excited than usual, we will be seeing Puss In Boots tomorrow morning and maybe sneak in to see Jack and Jill :) We will than go walking around Central Park with cupcakes in hand of course! As for our weekend plans? We had planned for Saturday's usual soccer game, some walking around Central Park, and than the usual Sunday routine with some lazying around the house included but plans have changed! I entered the "New York Family - magazine" giveaway, to win one of four family-packs of tickets to this years annual Quidditch World Cup which is being held here in NYC at Randalls Island this weekend! And........ I won, I won, I won!!!!!! This Saturday and Sunday we will be catching the NYC Water Taxi down to Randalls Island for the Quidditch World Cup V! How exciting is that? Very exciting! At least for this very huge Harry Potter fan it is :) You can not believe how Miguelito and I started jumping as I read the email! He had no idea so this was super exciting news!! There will be Wizard Wrock bands, fire swallowers, live animals including owls :) OMG!!!! I am just SO freaking excited! I seriously feel like a little girl right now! I can't wait to come back on Monday with pictures and all the fun details! Now what to wear? What to wear? :)

ING NYC Marathon 2011

Hi loves :) I've missed you all! I have so many things to blog about. First of all I am so happy that this is a short week. Miguelito had no school today due to Elections and Friday there is no school thanks to Veterans Day. Today we got to wake up early to go see a movie with my mom and than we got to spend the rest of the day at the Central park Zoo - pictures to come by the end of this week!

Last week was such a crazy busy week which led up to the best Sunday ever! It was Marathon weekend :) The days leading up to Sunday were full of fireworks, marathon expo, sign making, and lots of family time (which I love!) Oh and let me not forget an entire week of gall bladder pain, I kept praying that it would go away and that it didn't send me to the ER for emergency surgery. Can you believe that the pain is still there, oh so faintly but still there. It all started after the jogging around Central Park. I think it doesn't want me to run, and it has actually stopped me from doing so since last weeks Monday, but I will be going tomorrow, wish me luck! Ok now, where was I? Oh yes the Marathon, it is one of the craziest and most exciting events in NYC, so much excitement and cheering goes on. The entire city is paralyzed on Marathon day. It is just Amazing!

Yikes! Where has the time gone?

Happy 1st Day of November!

So, how's everyone dealing with their sweet hangover? I'm eating all the little almond joy that I can dig up from Miguelito's loot and it's actually helping my tummy ache :)

Last night was a lot of fun and I'm so happy that Humbe was off from work and the two of us were able to take Miguelito Trick or Treating :) Well actually four of us, Jessy and her boyfriend Jesus met us halfway and you better believe we had a blast. The four of us plus Miguelito equals a crazy lil bunch!

It was a fun night which started with Miguelito being really shy to go out with his costume, he thought we were the only ones going out early - early?!? It was already 5:00pm, I had to make sure he did his homework first. But after stopping by a few stores and seeing the other kids trick or treating, he was one wild child running from one store to another Ha! Talk about being worried or shy.

Everyone loved Miguelito's costume and people kept on stopping him in the street to take pictures of him, you better believe I was one happy mama hen! Now to plot for next year :) One thing is for sure, we will be doing a family theme!

Hmm... It's Saturday October 29, 2011 - Halloween is on Monday and it's still fall! I'm not crazy right?

Quick note about those purple jeans that i'm wearing in the above picture! They didn't fit me before but with all the light jogging that I've been doing, they finally fit! Yay! Woooohooo! Just one of my many milestones to come :)

So...What is that white slushy stuff under our feet?? Snow.. snow.. it's snow I tell you!

Yesterdays forecast for today was snow but we just couldn't believe it! How many times have we been tricked by the weather forecast - Ha! But guess what, the trick was on us and it wasn't candy.

It was about 11:00am this morning when we took a peak out the window and "whoa" to our surprise all we could see were big fluffy snowflakes coming down. And thus began Miguelito's mission to try and convince mami to take him out and play in the snow, you must keep in mind that I've been running around like a loony all week and I just wanted to lazy around all day today and sleep in late, which I couldn't because out of all the days in the week Miguelito decided to get up at 7:00am today - why the nerve of my little boy :P

All it took Miguleito to convince me and my handy dandy camera to go and let him play in the snow was an hour, an hour in which he stayed glued to the window with Manhattan watching the snow fall to the ground and screaming "Mami look, look, at the snow, Mami run the snowflakes are bigger, mami *sigh* i want to touch the snow". I remembered how much I loved (I still do) snow and so we started to dress quickly just in case it stopped snowing! As we stepped out our building all i could do was gasp and laugh, the sight of New York in October covered with snow was just AMAZING! And it's one of the most beautiful sights ever, not to mention Central park covered in snow is just Beautiful!!

We had fun and froze a little as we walked down the street and s little bit into Central Park, it wasn't safe for us to go all the way into the park. Due to the fact that the trees are still so green and full of leaves and with the weight of the snow there were a lot of tree branches falling, making it very not safe to walk inside. It was lots of fun nonetheless! Now I can't stop thinking of how our Winter will be when it actually gets here - brrrrrrrr!!!! This is only the beginning!

Cheers to many nights of drinking hot chocolate or coffee and watching movies while I cuddle up with my boys :)

Bleh!

It's Thursday a day before Friday and I fell Bleh! It's raining and it's chilly outside, I have a huge headache and a lot of things on my mind! I am letting certain things and people get to me and other things that really need to get resolved A.S.A.P! I want to be a bitch and I can't, I want to be mean but I can't, I want to hit somebody - grrrrrrr!!! But instead I end up crying, which is something that I usually do when I'm frustrated - not good!! I wish I could let things slide off, that I wouldn't pay mind and act as if nothing ever happened. I'm really, really SAD!!!

A) My son is being bullied at school verbally, which is one of the worst kinds of damage! And what kind of bullying? He's being called names,one of them "Hey, you Mexican boy" That's bringing back so many horrible memories and it's leaving me feeling helpless! I went through many bumps in my life.I was called many things from Mexican girl to you latina or go and sell your oranges with your mama! Yes, oh and the most traumatizing event. That one time I was 13yrs old and I was on the bus with my 4yr old brother, 9yr old sister and mom. This older white couple got on the bus and they wanted to sit down. My brother and mom were sitting down and the couple started saying in English (they thought we didn't speak English) oh these Hispanic rude people, why don't they get that kid up so we can sit down and they started saying harsher words, when I told them to stop that I was understanding everything that they were saying. What happened next? well the man started hitting my leg with his briefcase and talking more about how rude we were. I suggested to my mom that we get off on the next stop and I remember how my little brother got off crying and my sister too. I was so red, i had to hold in my tears (as I type this I a crying my heart out) my mom didn't understand English and she had no real idea of what was being said, i only told her a little bit. And many more things happened as the years went by, and now that Miguelito is going through this I feel mad, the worst thing is the girl is Hispanic. Why is it that we do this to ourselves to each other?

B) Remember Miguelitos best friend Mason? I talked a lot about him and his family last year. Well guess what? His mom decided not to talk to me anymore. Why? Well Miguelito was having trouble with reading last year, so much so that I had to get him a tutor. I decided for him not to have play-dates until he got better and she got mad that we weren't coming over to her house anymore. Really? She even screamed at me at there school about not being a good friend because Miguelito wasn't coming over! I told her things that no one else knew and now she walks by me as if I don't exist! That hurts and I feel like slapping the crap out of her!!

This is just a short version of what is going on in my life right now and wanted to let some of the steam out. Now I'm telling you girls some stuff I've never told anyone else before :)

There's nothing like the feeling of euphoria that I feel every morning as my feet hit the pavement.
I've never felt so powerful or this pumped. I am so high on energy that I am literally bouncing off the walls.

The past few weeks I've been power walking every other day around the Reservoir, meaning I was jotting down 11.5 miles every week. After three weeks I felt it was time to move it up a notch and push myself some more. I decided to start trotting around Central Park - which is not an easy task. Central Park is full of crazy twists and plenty of hills.

My goal for this week to jot down 20 miles or more in my workout journal. So far I've got 10 miles down, 5 miles on Monday and another 5 miles today. It's supposed to rain hard tomorrow so I won't be able to do my trot around Central Park tomorrow, but you better believe I will be back on Thursday and Friday :) I am a girl on a mission and on a roll!

I almost forgot to mention that Karma has been on my side - I also found out today that I won two giveaways :) Eeeekkkk!! How's that for luck! Hmmmmmm... I wonder? Should I try my luck and play the lotto?? :)

I love birthdays especially when it's someone so close to me like my baby brother. I remember carrying him on my hip during snowstorms so he wouldn't slip and now he's 21 and in love with his soulmate!

I'm so happy to say that I am proud of myself because I am doing it! I am pushing myself every morning and as I finish my 3.5 miles every morning I feel alive, energized, and SEXY!!! Except in those above pictures where I'm wearing my workout clothes! I have a goal and you better believe me when I say that I will get there! Not only that but I am also training for my first race, more on that later and the music I like to listen to while I workout.

Now to get ready for a fun filled weekend which will be full of soccer, street fairs,family, Central Park and we get to see an early premiere of Johnny English Reborn tomorrow morning. So for now I will leave you with one of my workout songs :)

I can't believe that just a week ago we were counting down the hours to the Black Eyed Peas concert @ The Great Lawn in Central Park. To say that I had the time of my life is just an understatement. Not only was it an amazing night but it was so much fun! The night was full of lots of singing, dancing, jumping, and screaming, oh and lots of rain! It started pouring after the intermission and as people started to leave I took out our $1.00 ponchos - hahaha!! and the night just got better!

I borrowed this video from Youtube, my video doesn't want to upload for some reason. But I must say that this is MY song - well not My song but OUR (Marz & ME ) song. When this song came on I had to call Marz so she could hear it and my screaming and singing :) This was one of the last songs to be sung and I almost burst into tears when it came on. It means so much to me and I was so happy to end with this song.

So my lovely girls it was a most magical and amazing night that will not be forgotten soon, my Miguelito now carries a picture of himself at the concert and told me that one day he will bring his children to a concert at the Great Lawn and he will tell them of the day I took him to see The Black Eyed Peas in Central Park, you better believe I started crying! I love my Miguelito / little partner in crime!

I restore myself when I'm alone - Marilyn Monroe

I finally did it!!

I went to the movie theaters on Tuesday (10 - 4-11) by myself. It only took me till I was 30yrs old to finally be brave enough and go sit down by myself in a dark theater and I have to say it was one of the best dates I've ever had, I even treated myself to some popcorn and sweets :)

It amazes me how hard it was for me to actually work up my nerve and make it to the theater by myself, I mean it's not like I don't go jogging or walking through Central Park by myself, I have eaten alone at little cafes and I walk by myself all the time. But as I sat in the movie theater and the lights started to dim I finally realized what the difference was? There were no cars zooming by, nobody running or walking along side, no people shoving or walking by me, it was just me by myself - of course there were a few other stragglers in the theater but with a lot of distance between us I really felt like I was there alone. Plus there was no time for me to think about anything or anyone but me, I won't lie in the beginning I felt a little bit bad, you see when I'm in the outside world my mind is racing with all sorts of things, What I have to organize? What I have to do? What I have to cook? and the list goes on and on... But as I sat in the movie theater I had no time to think about any of those things, it was time to get lost in a movie and laugh and cry and just enjoy not thinking about anything at all. It was 5 hours of mind clearing and you better believe I will be doing this again!

Now, what movies did I watch? Yes! movies, I love to go into a theater and try and watch 2 movies if I can :) I ended up watching "I don't know how she does it" and "Crazy, Stupid, Love" (my second time watching Crazy, Stupid, Love). Jessica Sarah Parker amazing again, don't miss out on this funny and cute movie. I love how they show different perspectives about being a mom, and I must say I am hands down like Jessica - plus Pierce Bronan is hot in this movie. As for Crazy, Stupid, Love it was just as amazing like the first time I saw it, it just gets me in all kinds of different ways!

So my darling friends have you girls ever been to the movie theater by yourself? If you have what did you think?

Today is the season premiere of Dexter, my favorite sexiest, good - serial killer. Oh and not to mention my boyfriend! I am so excited and oh so ready! I have my shopping done for tonight's premiere, now all I need to be finished are my Dexter cupcakes :) Like I really need an excuse to whip up some pretty cupcakes.

Only thing missing? A pretty Dexter t-shirt or some other sort of souvenir. I really wish I'd ordered something for tonight's premiere like my beautiful sister Micaela's Dexter shirt. I will now have to buy something ASAP for the rest of the season. The problem now? To not go overboard with the shopping. I've been on Etsy for the past hour and am so in love with everything Dexter related.

Celebrity Stalking

I love my sister Marz and darling Steph for SO many reasons, not only are they always there for me but they are fellow celebrity stalkers like myself :D If they lived here we would be the three musketeers and stalking celebrities would be our part time job!

When Marz told me that her boyfriend Shawn Michaels A.K.A The HBK would be in NYC today, I knew I had to go and stalk him, not only for my sake but by direct order from my sister -lol! I was instructed to tell him how much she loved him and adored him, and how the heartbreak kid broke her heart not so long ago! So I searched on facebook to see where Shawn Michaels was going to be and after finding out, I set out with my partner in crime - my mom, also a Shawn Michaels fan!

Almost there!

After a one hour wait in which it got chilly and started raining, well actually pouring - we ended up buying an umbrella in the street because ours was warm and cozy at home! We finally got called to go into the tour truck - eeeeeekkkkk!! Can I just say I was so freaking excited and nervous to meet my sister's boyfriend, that when I finally had a good view of him I thought I was going to drop right there. Shawn is the sweetest guy and so patient with all of his fans, we were all allowed one picture each and an autograph on any one item, we were also given a free T- Shirt from the new hunting game he was promoting.

So, did you guys notice Shawn's smile in our picture? Yeah? Well I was squeezing his biceps!! God was that man strong and beefy :D I couldn't help squeezing his bicep - eeeeeekkkk!! My mom couldn't help laughing and saying how she didn't risk touching him. Overall Shawn is a very sweet guy, he was sweet enough to let me chat to him about my sister and her being his number#1 fan and how devastated she was, he said to say hello and lots of love to lovely Marz :D

It was a very fun experience that will last me a lifetime. Oh and notice my usual partner in crime wasn't with me, due to school. Well I need to add that he is very mad that I went without him, in his own words Miguelito: Mom, how could you? I love wrestling, I wanted a picture with The Kid too!!

So that was my day but instead of me ending it on a happy note I am very sad, I also found out that MY boyfriend Eric was here in NYC to promote his new movie Straw Dogs :( I tried my best to google and search where the premiere would be, but no luck! So close yet so far away, for now I have to console myself with a magazine that I received today, and getting to watch Eric on the big screen tonight at the midnight premiere of Straw Dogs :)

10 yrs and it seems like only yesterday...

What was supposed to be another beautiful day turned out to be a nation's worst nightmare. Which will never be forgotten. So many innocent lives were lost. Many days full of hope and questions unanswered. I have been sitting in front of my computer for two hours now, deleting and writing and deleting again. I finally put the other post in my saved pile and decided that I am still not ready to talk about what happened that day, I've never been able to to talk to my family or anyone else about what happened during that time that I went "missing". I know that someday I have to be able to be strong enough to let it all out in the open. One thing is for sure September 11,2001 is the day I lost my innocence!

My thoughts and prayers to all of the innocent people that lost their lives on September 11,2001 - They will never be forgotten.

Back to school as a 3rd grader

As we welcome Autumn we also welcome back the routine of school and other activities, oh and let me not forget Starbucks - Pumpkin Spice Latte & the Salted Caramel Mocha.

Anyway, I swear this Summer went by in a flash, the fastest ever!

I can't believe it's the beginning of another school year and my Miguelito is now a 3rd grader.

Miguelito was so happy to go back to school, he gets to see his friends again and not go shopping with me anymore - lol! As we walked to school with our Miguelito this morning and I gave my mommy chat - behave yourself, listen to the teacher, respect your peers and I love you, My throat started to close up and my heart started beating faster. My Miguelito, my little partner in crime was going back to school and I won't see him until later in the afternoon. I will miss our morning runs to Starbucks, our late night movie watching, and our summer adventures. But we welcome with open arms our new Autumn adventures - which will be full of many exciting and fun things! In the meantime we will count down the days to Summer 2012!

But now cheers for Autumn adventures and the beginning of a wonderful school year :)

Happy Birthday My Miguelito!!!

Happy 8th Birthday My Miguelito!!

About to leave for the hospital - you can see the pain in my face! Oh and people didn't believe I was pregnant, my tummy was so little.

I can not believe how fast time has gone by. It feels like it was today that I woke up at exactly 2:00am with sharp pain in my back and realizing that my contractions were starting. After 18 hours of labor (no epidural - but that's another story on it's own) I would embark on the greatest journey of my life. At exactly 8:00pm we welcomed our beautiful 6 lb baby boy Miguelito. My hands were shaking so much as I felt a million emotions running through me, from feeling scared of seeing this tiny little baby that now depended on me to the realization that I was now a mom hitting me like a cold bucket of water. But the moment I held him in my arms he looked at me with his big dark brown eyes and I knew that everything was going to be ok and that true love does exist!

Happy 1st day of September!

Just 23 days left until the first day of Fall and I am so excited. Not only does that mean cooler weather but also the beautiful transformation of Central Park. I get to walk through Central Park and take in all the beautiful colors!! But before I get ahead of myself we still have to bid farewell to a very sweet Summer which has been full of lots of fun adventures and sweet, yummy treats. Meaning lots of cupcakes from different places :)

About 2 weeks ago (Aug 19,2011 to be exact) we ventured down to the Times Square area in hopes of enjoying some cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. Before I continue you must understand that these are not your ordinary everyday cupcakes. These are itty bitty cupcakes, meaning they are literally the size of a quarter, but they are so delicious and full of yummy fillings.

So many itty bitty cupcakes! Which ones to choose?? You can see how ecstatic Miguelito was to see so many cupcakes :)

Once we got to the store I could not decide on one flavor, they have 11 flavors, including the Mini of The Month which changes every month. So I did the next best thing, I ordered 12 minis for Miguelito, my Mom and me! We shared itty bitty bites of our choices with each other and OMG were they heavenly!!! They were so good that Miguelito has asked us that instead of buying a birthday cake for his birthday on Monday, if we could get him 50 mini cupcakes along with me baking him a cake at home instead :)

They were all delicious but I have to say that my favorite flavors were the Mint Chocolate Chip - which consist of chocolate cake,chocolate cookie filling, mint icing, and chocolate chips, the Cinnamon - yellow cake, cinnamon filling, vanilla icing, and cinnamon sugar topping, the Chocolate Chip Pancake - yellow pancake, maple syrup icing, and chocolate chips, and last but not least the Tie - Dye - vanilla cake, and vanilla icing!

Hurricane Irene Is History!

Never doubt the power of prayer - it is very powerful!!

We are all ok!! :) God answered all of our prayers, when Hurricane Irene

touched land in New York City and it turned into a Tropical Storm. It could have been worse

but it wasn't. We were very lucky and I am so grateful, my prayers and thoughts are with all of the other states that were affected by Hurricane Irene and for the lives that were lost.

And no there is no such thing as being over prepared, better safe than sorry!

Many people are now regretting all the precautions they took and the MTA being shut down completely. But is there any such thing as being over prepared?

We can now laugh and say with lots of happiness that Irene is History baby!

I wish with all my heart that these coming days are nice and relaxed so that I can enjoy our last days of summer vacation, plus I have two birthdays to plan - Miguelito's on the 5th and my Mom's on the 10th of September :)

Thank you so much to all of my beautiful friends and family in Texas for your messages, prayers and words. They meant the world to me and my family. We love you all!!

I can not forget to mention some very special girls that kept me on my toes during this entire ordeal, if it were not for their messages, emails, and text messages I would have been a total mess!

Hurricane Irene

First an earthquake and now a hurricane!

We are officially waiting for Hurricane Irene to hit us overnight from 2:00am to 3:00pm.

We were previously told it was going to hit us tomorrow at 8:00pm, but she's a coming

faster than we anticipated. Yesterday we went shopping for water, canned food, batteries and flashlights, and it was a mob scene like never before. The shelves were empty, there was no bread, no D batteries which are the ones that flashlights mostly use, and no flashlights. We ended up at Costco after going to Target and two other stores and coming up empty handed. Our windows have been taped up just in case and we have our supplies ready.

We are all staying together, my mom, dad, sister, brother, Humbe, Miguelito and me, we will be sleeping in the hallway away from windows, well Miguelito will actually be sleeping as I watch over him. I must say that I am starting to freak out, the pressure and the news are actually getting to me and after a mini panic attack the only thing holding me together is Miguelito.

We might lose power and this crappy laptop of mines will also stay without power, so I hope to come back on Monday or Tuesday to let you know that we are ok and how New York survived it's first hurricane.

So many adventures so liitle time!

There are only 15 days left until the first day of school and the days are going by faster than ever. I have been making sure that Miguelito enjoys every single moment, and that means that our days have been full of adventures, in some cases that means we've been leaving the house at 10:00am and end up getting home until 11:00pm or 12:00am :D

Today was no exception. Miguelito has been asking me to go to the Transit Museum for a few months

now, so today we rode the train down to Brooklyn Heights and surprised him with a day full of Miguelito approved adventures (he was tired of going shopping with me - lol)

I feel the earth move under my feet...

And I don't mean literally or because of love!

Today at around 1:50pm there was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Virginia which was felt

all the way here in NYC!

The East Coast Earthquake

At first I didn't know what was going on, it seemed so surreal and if not for all the news channels broadcasting and going crazy with what just happened I would have thought it was all a hallucination.

Miguelito was sitting on the couch with

Manhattan and I was sitting on the armchair. When Manhattan started getting all crazy and barking

like a mad-dog, next thing I know our building feels like it's shaking and the couches

start moving. It must have been no more than 30 seconds but it really felt like more than that.

Thank God it wasn't more than a horrible scare, and after some scary moments like not being

able to communicate with my dad, or mom and sister who were all at different places but ok and just

a little shaken as well, oh and let me not forget my child who couldn't stop crying and

thinking we were going to die - I blame it on watching to many movies!

Everything was back to normal.

I for one pray that we never go beyond this scare ever again, New York and it's people

have been through enough scary and horrible moments as it is!

me running around the entire tri-state area trying to collect all of the 18 smurf toys

from Mcdonalds! I just need to get my hands on every single one of them I tell you!

【ツ】 Enjoying and having Central Park all to ourselves.

【ツ】 Laying down in the grass and watching the beauty of thunder! This is the

best picture I could take with my cellphone. Isn't it beautiful?

So you see we've been pretty busy, and I haven't even gotten to the food posts :)

Those need an entirely different and separate post.

Stay tuned because they are full of lots of yummy eats!

I've also been going wild with painting my nails, and my sisters and moms.

That's also an entirely different story, but I will leave you with a teaser of

what my nails look like now :)

The countdown has begun.....

I promise to come back with many pictures and stories of how we've spent our summer days.

I know, I know I already said that before but I promise this time I mean it, and let me tell you

they've been filled with lots of eating . From finding the best fried chicken in NYC to finally checking out Eataly and riding lots of ferry's and enjoying the sea breeze.

Oh, and not to mention the masaquer that happened to my hair. I went in for a haircut and

came out a mess :(

But first, the countdown to two very special dates has begun!

One: The first day of school - 22 days left to be exact,

and second and most importantly we have started to count down the days to.......

Miguelito has always been a silly little boy :)

Miguelito's 8th Birthday - Only 19 days left!!!

I cannot believe that my baby will be 8yrs old on September 5th, he will be

2yrs away from being 10yrs old!!

Time goes by way to fast and I just want to freeze time and

have my Miguelito this age forever!!

I'm addicted to polka dots I tell you, can't wait to show you what

I've come up with since :D

Who will be the biggest loser?

Happy Friday - I am SO excited about this post!!

Have you met my beautiful friend Elaine?

If you haven't won't you stop by her blog and say Hola!

Elaine is my darling and beautiful friend, she has two beautiful boys and loves to blog about

her everyday adventures with her beautiful family and other tidbits :)

She is also the girl behind the best idea ever!!!

Something that will make you challenge yourself and push yourself harder then ever, and in

the process you might end up winning some cash :)

All those who participate will put down some money and at the end of the challenge

whoever loses the most weight will win all of the money in the pot!!

Start date: August 15,2011

End Date: November 15,2011

Winner Announced on: November 16,2011

Here are some of the rules:

1) In order to be an eligible challenger, you must submit $20/person which will be put in

the pot (to be kept by Elaine for the 3 month duration).

2) Monetary submission should be received by Monday, August 15.

3) Every Monday starting from August 15, your weight should be sent to Elaine so she

can keep track of it. Your weight should be sent in picture form, by sending a

picture of the scale she can make sure that everything is correct and legit.

4) Your weight will be kept in confidence with her, and she will be sending out a progress

report every two weeks so that we can see how much weight everybody is losing and to keep us all

motivated to lose the weight and win the pot of gold at the end of the challenge.

5) At the end of the challenge, whoever loses the most weight (calculated from their beginning weight and subtracting their most current weight), will win the total of the pot.

So now the question is are you in or are you out???

Who will be the biggest loser in blog world??

I of course have stepped up to the challenge and am so excited to start working my butt

off :) With so many things going on I fell off the wagon a little bit, and

I am so happy my girl Elaine came up with this challenge now!!

What better way to get motivated then a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!

The Help - Two Thumbs Way Up!!!!!

No Spoilers - I promise

Last night I stood in line to see "The Help" and

I am SO happy I did, it was all I expected and more!!
If you thought the trailers and teaser scenes were good, hold your breath
because you ain't seen nothing yet.

It was a rollercoaster full of emotions, from crying to laughing

so hard my stomach was hurting. It had my attention the entire time.
The cast was amazing and perfect!!

This is a must see movie with such a powerful and important message.
Go watch it you will not be disappointed!

I will leave you with some fun facts about the movie:

The film was shot on location in and around Greenwood, Miss., and the citizens of Greenwood willingly pitched in to find period props for the film by digging around in their attics and basements, and many played extras in “The Help” as well. Even producer Brunson Green’s grandmother’s dress wound up in wardrobe.

Local chefs were brought in to make sure foods used in the scenes, from fried chicken to congealed salads, were regionally correct and also correct for the times, and a conscious effort was made to make it all look homemade—not fancy or store-bought—to add to the authenticity of the film.

Due to the intense summer heat in Mississippi, the filmmakers adjusted the schedule to shoot only indoors in the middle of the day. Exteriors were shot in the early morning and late afternoon.

The mothers of Tate Taylor, Kathryn Stockett and Brunson Green all have appearances in “The Help.”

A dialect coach, hired to make sure everyone’s southern accent was perfect, flew into Jackson, Miss., to record accents for the actors. Even the real southerners in the cast were coached in the proper way of speaking specifically for the Mississippi Delta. Allison Janney picked Producer Brunson Green’s mother’s accent to emulate for her character, Charlotte. In 1963, Mrs. Green was the same age as the character Skeeter, played by Emma Stone.

Now I must go and read the book.
There was a time where I would make sure to read the book first before watching the movie,
but that usually ended up with a very frustrated me, because of all the key points that
were missing. Therefore I now tend to watch the movie first and then read the
book, plus there is that element of surprise when watching it on the big screen!
Oh and I can also put faces to the characters - lol!

DIY Watermelon Inspired Nails

So many things so little time!

We're almost done with the first week of August, and we're only

one month away from the first day of school - yikes!

I've been making sure that we enjoy every single day & moment.

Our days have been full of many adventures, movies, late night sleeping & yummy food :)

I can't wait to post some pictures.

In the mean time I'm leaving you with some pictures of one of my favorite hobbies and an easy

DIY nail idea that you can do yourself. Now that it's summer I have more time to paint my nails

and I've been loving coming up with some fresh ideas.

Pink nailpolish -w- OPI's white shatter on top

OPI in Mermaid Tears -w- OPI Silver Shatter on top

My sister asked me to paint her nails :)

DYI - Watermelon inspired nails

Things you will need: nail polish & band-aids.

1) You will need OPI in Mermaid Tears & Sparrow Me The Drama

(These were a birthday gift from my beautiful sister's Marz & Micaela)

First paint your entire nail in Sparrow Me The Drama - I used two coats.

2) Let the pink nail polish dry for about 15 - 20 minutes so that non of the nail
polish gets pulled off when you put the band aid on your nail.

Depending on what kind of line you want from straight to diagonal, that is the way you need

to put the band-aid on. For this design we are doing a diagonal line.

3) After you place the ban-aid diagonally on the nail, use the Mermaid Tears and color

over the pink nail polish. I also used two coats of this mint color.

You can remove the band-aid slowly a minute or two after you finish applying the Mermaid tears.

After one more minute or two finish by applying a clear top coat.

4) Voila - You have a perfect diagonal design and manicure :)

Side Note: You can also use scotch tape - even though I do feel it is somewhat tougher and when

it is pulled off the nail some of the nail polish does come off, and you can also use any two

colors you like.

I now have a different design on my nails :)

Can you guess? Hint: I see spots.

Today I baked some cupcakes and Miguelto said Mami they remind me of your nails :)

Happy Friday Loves!!

Oh where does the time go?

I can't believe it's the last Friday and Weekend in July,

and that Monday will already be the first day of August!

Half the summer is already over - Noooooo!!

I was going to post some pictures that I took during the week but my camera and cellphone

do not want to collaborate with me, therefore I am left without pictures to post - grrrrr!!

I was left picture-less for this post :(

How was your week? My week was a little rough and scary.

My grandmother had a pre-heart attack on Tuesday evening.Thank God she is ok but now we must be really careful with her and what really sucks is that she is really far away. I'm afraid to say that I almost lost it, I am not ready to lose another loved one. It will be exactly one year that I went to Mexico and bid my Grandfather Trini farewell, without knowing that it was actually good-bye forever - it will be 6 months that he passed away and it hurts so much to think about my abuelito,

I miss him so much :(

As soon as my sister saw that I was in a funk she literally jumped up and dragged

me, along with Miguelito and my mamma to the mall for a day of shopping and just driving our

worries away. Not only am I blessed with the best family ever but also with the best sister

ever, who always knows when I'm feeling down.

That's my little sister for you, always driving away my worries :)
No wonder they always think I'm younger than her!

Life has a way of making you tougher, when you stumble on problems your supposed to come out

stronger and wiser. In my case it seems I've come out somewhat weaker. I used to be the

stronger one, the rock that the family could rely on, but as I survived my own scares in life

such as a heart condition in which I was told I would never be able to be a mom, or the cancer

scare a few years back when my Miguelito was just 2yrs old and I thought he would be left without his mommy. I've become more vulnerable because it finally hit me that

we are all here on borrowed time and tomorrow is not a sure thing.

That's why we must never leave for tomorrow what

we can do today, never go to sleep mad with your significant other, always tell your

loved ones how much you love them and always, always smile

because you my friend are blessed to still be alive to breathe in the fresh air, to see your family's smiling faces, to play around with your children/nieces/nephews/grand-kids, and most importantly enjoy every single moment of your beautiful life!!!

Like me for who I am...

I've always loved to write and save all sorts of trinkets from ticket stubs, to little notes,

or napkins. Looking back at my old journals that's what you will find

little things that connect to a special day or moment from my life.

That's just the kind of girl I am, I like to remember every single moment of

my life whether it be good or bad.

I'm a dork that way.

It's funny how I stumbled upon blogger, to tell you the truth I had no idea about this

world, and I only learned about it as I watched Uma Thurman blogging in the movie Motherhood.

I fell in love with Blogger from that day forward.

The next day I ran to sign up and start my own blog,

what better way to capture and remember my everyday adventures.

From that first Hi to a little few posts back this blog was about me and my little family, about

any thoughts floating inside my head, or anything else my heart desired.

Sadly enough I feel like peer pressure has gotten the best of me, and I've lost my way

in my little blog. I have so many post ideas floating in my head and yet not one

of them is up.

I've always been the kind of girl to care to much about what other people

think, and therefore when a very mean comment was put up anonymously

on my blog a few weeks back I let it affect me way to much. I almost gave up blogging!!

Yes - I let it affect me that much, but instead I tried to change, to not focus so much on me - I

laugh and cry as I type this, because I was stupid to let something like this affect me.

You must realize though that these past few months have been very rough and a girl can only take so much, especially for a very sensitive one like me.

Peer pressure can be a bitch, even in blog world.

What kind of peer pressure you ask?

The idea of having to be a part of some kind of group.

Groups? The little groups you find online, like the mommy bloggers who choose to only

follow fellow mommy bloggers, the fashion bloggers who only follow fashion bloggers,

or the spelling snobs who won't give you the light of day because you spelled

they - day! Sometimes we are in a rush and it happens.
I could go on but I won't, you get the idea.

My blogging desire diminished and my commenting on other blogs as well ( I also didn't

have my laptop with me, it was with Geek Squad - grrr..more on that later)

The saddest thing for me to realize through all of this

was that I let some stupid comment rule me and my blog.

I didn't stop to think about my real friends that I've met through blogging and like me

for who I am, and come back to read my everyday ramblings.

So you see I've been very DUMB!!

But no more, this is MY space after all, and I will blog whatever my heart desires.

If I want to be sad I will be, if I want to be happy and write about

my everyday adventures with my family I will.

I will be ME!!

I'm pretty cool if you get to know me and a little dorky, but still a

pretty sweet girl who loves life and thinks we all deserve respect for who we are.

Now I have a favor and sort of a contest I want to do.

When I first started this blog the name was

"Peace,Love, & Cupcakes = Happiness"

I thought it was to long and maybe a little to childish for me and my age - again thinking what would

readers think :( and therefore I later changed it to

"Ramblings Of A Simple Girl"

I've really never liked it and don't feel like it really suits me, I'm not fully content with it

and now I'm thinking it would be fun if you my lovely

friends could help me come up with a new name?

The winning lady would get a special package from me :)

Friday Fancies

Happy Friday Loves

Never before have I ever been so happy to see a week go by, my Miguelito

finally has his appetite back and a fever free day. He's on his

way to a good recovery - yay!!

It's been a while that I've participated in AV's Friday Fancies

Happy Birthday To My Dear Papi,

It's been a scary past few days with my Miguelito, but thanks to God everything

will be ok. Thank you so much my loves for the messages, emails, and comments

on facebook. They gave me strength and so much support during

this very scary moment.

Things are almost back to normal again and today we get to celebrate not only

that my Miguelito is ok, but also my sweet pappa's birthday.

A day full of blessings & happiness :)

Some Of My Favorites

This week I'm focusing on three of my essential summer items:

Dove Deodorant

Visibly smooth clinical protection deodorant in wild rose scent - this deodorant is 2 things in one.

Not only does it help minimize my underarm hair but it also helps me in this summer heat and sweating.

Btw I don't suffer from BBO or anything but just in case I did

this deodorant would be my number one! I love it!!

Tresemme

Fresh start dry shampoo - now that it's summer it's really a drag to have to wash your

hair every single day, not only is it bad to wash your hair every day because

you wash away your natural important oils, but i get lazy as well.

So it's great to be able to spray this on y hair every other day, it smells great and leaves my hair feeling soft.

Sedu

Pure Argan Oil - perfect for my summer frizzies! I've tried oils before and they always leave my hair feeling oily and heavy. This one is perfect!! It's not greasy and I forget it's on my hair.

Plus it smells wonderful!!
